In September 2024, ARRL® rolled out Standardized Task Book version 3.0, with updates that have not been done for several years. While there is no requirement for local ARES® units to match the latest version, I have decided to incorporate some of the changes.
- Level classification for members have been updated to Introductory, Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Frankly, I always find the Level numbering system confusing as it is the opposite of FEMA resource typing.
- Five (5) optional FEMA training courses have been added and are listed in an Addendum to the Task Book.
In addition, because Klamath County Emergency Management is no longer under Klamath County Sheriff Office and the current Emergency Manager has more liberal requirement for volunteers, County volunteer application and background check are removed as requirement to join our unit.
