Fall arrived with the start of the Marsh Fire reported on September 23rd. It grew to 2,661 acres and it is 55% contained as of October 1st.
While the participation of the weekly voice net check-in stays level, the number of weekly Winlink check-in remains low. In late August, I started asking a ham-related trivia question at the voice net every Monday and asked for response to be given on the ICS-213 form to KF7KLA via Winlink. This resulted in a slight increase in Winlink traffic so I plan to continue the weekly trivia questions.
We had another leadership change – Effective September 1st, Scott N7JI took on the role as our ARRL Orange Section Manager (“SM”). I attended a Zoom meeting that Scott put together to start talking about the future architecture of EmComm in Oregon. I also met briefly with him and Bonnie AB7ZQ, Polk County ARES EC, to learn about their ARES meetings.
