Some answers to common questions
Net log: Yes we keep a net log it is visible for the current year on the Nets page down at the bottom of the page. We do not list callsigns that have checked in on this log we do, however, keep a detailed hardcopy log for internal records.
What’s up with the digital nets? Long story short, it’s not really a net if net control is the only one playing along. The Winlink net doesn’t take much time to update and it can be replied to at any time, this is the only reason it is still up and running.
When are the training materials going to be posted? Soon. I hope. A lot has been going on and there have been some changes in focus. Training modules will be coming to the site before the end of the year. Not all of them, but a beginning. The outline for training will also be posted before the end of the year.
The ARES Orientation presentation will also be posted to the site soon.
When are we going to be able to sign up for Klamath County ARES online? This is more difficult to answer. We can post the basic interest form, but because we are county volunteers and need to go through a background check. We are working on streamlining this process and will post more detailed information on the process as soon as it is established.
As with everywhere else, the pandemic has put us behind schedule in many areas.
Are there any meetings to go to? Right now, no. We are a small team and the training schedule is still in development. We do have the weekly VHF voice net on Mondays at 19:00 on the Hamaker repeater 146.850 – 118.8
We do plan on establishing a regular meeting schedule as well as a field training schedule.
Are we doing anything for Field Day? Not specifically at this point. We have a few things we would like to accomplish on field day where the local radio club will be setting up. Hopefully we will know what is going on soon.
